KIANA NEWMAN
Born and raised on the island of O'ahu, Hawai'i, I grew up with a natural love for the outdoors with my obsession initially reserved for the ocean and surfing. I moved to California in 2014 where I pursued a Bachelor's degree in Sports Medicine, competed in the NSSA in Women's Shortboarding, had the opportunity to live and travel abroad in Germany and Fiji, and was introduced to many mountain sports for the first time.
Upon graduating from college, I decided that I didn't want to jump into a career in the medical field just yet and, instead, chose the unconventional route of moving to Yosemite National Park to work for several years as a Naturalist Guide and then later as a Guiding Manager. It was here that I fell in love with rock climbing and trail running and avidly pursued wild adventures on and off the beaten path throughout the Sierra Nevada mountains and beyond.
My travels internationally and time living in Yosemite has taught me many invaluable lessons and has surfaced my passion for educating and empowering others to be participators, learners, and caretakers of the communities and wild places all around us.
I am so excited to get to embrace this aspiration and share many unforgettable experiences with others through working with Rogue Expeditions!
