This was my third trip with Rogue Expeditions, and I sincerely think Mammoth & Yosemite will become a Rogue classic. It’s. That. Good.
It’s a Level 3, Rogue’s hardest rating, but you don’t have to be fast. Hike the ups, jog the downs, and you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the views. And the views are INCREDIBLE.
Our group had a wide range of paces and a mix of ages. This trip is so inclusive. Whatever your pace, it’s for you. Truly. I was in the back for pretty much every run, and there was always a guide right there with me. I always felt included. I never held anyone up.
Every day had a shorter route option, whether you wanted to take it easy or cut the day down. You could even skip a run entirely and enjoy the spa and facilities (but I’d encourage you to do ALL the runs, they’re so good!!).
The itinerary is so thoughtfully planned. It starts in Mammoth with an easier run to help folks adjust to the altitude. From there it builds. First Glen Aulin in Yosemite, with its waterfalls and Tuolumne Meadows. Then a shorter recovery day at Reversed Peak in June Lake, which turned out to be my favorite run of the trip (hello, fall colors!). Then the big finale: Clouds Rest, where you stand above Half Dome and look down into Yosemite Valley. The 360-degree views are wild.
Another thing I really appreciate about Rogue: all you have to do is get yourself to the arrival airport. From there, everything is handled: pickup, lodging, every meal, and snacks and water on every run. With the spa, sauna, pool and hot springs, recovery is built in too. It makes traveling with them so easy.
And the guides. Oh my god, the guides. Three guides for ten guests. They spread out on every run, with someone at the front, the middle and the back, so nobody is alone or rushed. Ashly, Kiana and Matt were our guides, and they are truly, truly the best.
Most of our group came solo. The people on these trips become fast friends. Every. Single. Time. And just like every group trip, the people truly make it special.
I’ve already booked my fourth Rogue trip: the Balkans in 2027. If you’re on the fence about booking this trip, do it! You can do it. I can’t think of a better way to explore than with a group this supportive.
