Ready to get you in touch with your wild side?
One of the adventure sport capitals of the world, British Columbia really has it all when it comes to outdoor pursuits. Participants on this trip will discover the lesser-explored frontier of northern British Columbia as we explore the Bella Coola valley and surrounding areas: within one amazing week you’ll pack in the beautiful Great Bear Rainforest, the epic valleys, glaciers & lakes of Tweedsmuir Park and experience the vast Chilcotin Plateau with endless alpine meadows and jagged peaks.
Be among the privileged few to have experienced the trails in these parts, and enjoy abundant wildlife viewing, sweeping vistas of waterfalls, glaciers, river valleys and all kinds of mountains! We will start our trip with beautiful lodge accommodation and multi-course meals before venturing deep into the wilderness to a private lakeside campsite. After a couple of days off-grid we’ll head back into civilization, finishing up at another cozy lodge with all necessary creature comforts on offer.
Ready to unplug and head into the wild? Then Run BC is the trip for you.

RUNNING REQUIREMENTS
This trip requires two mandatory 10 mile days (Days 5 & 7) with significant elevation change, getting to and then from our campsite (3500 ft / 1000m of climbing there, then 3500 ft / 1000m of descent to return two days later). All other routes are adjustable in terms of distance and plans will be tweaked according to the ability mix of the group.
Daily maximums are listed on the itinerary and while some hiking is to be expected (and sometimes required) given the terrain, participants should arrive prepared for trail running. Though we’ll be on established trails, please be comfortable with and excited about the idea of remote wilderness. This is grizzly bear country, and runners must be willing to comply with the safety measures outlined by our guides, including but not limited to carrying bear spray (you’ll be given thorough instruction), bells, occasionally hiking rather than running and sticking together in pairs or small groups.
GROUP SIZE
There will be a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 runners. Spots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so early deposits are recommended!
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Your trip price includes the spectacular 19-seater regional flight from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Bella Coola on arrival day and from Anahim Lake back to YVR on departure day. Arriving in Vancouver at least one day prior to the trip start date is strongly encouraged to avoid missing this flight. If you do choose to fly in on arrival day, plan for at least a 4 hour buffer at the airport. This allows time to clear immigration, collect your checked luggage, and take the shuttle bus to the domestic terminal.
You will return to the Vancouver domestic terminal the afternoon of departure day and you should be able to fly out from YVR that same evening if you choose.

If you do choose to fly in on arrival day, plan for at least a 4 hour buffer at the airport. This allows time to clear immigration, collect your checked luggage, and take the shuttle bus to the domestic terminal. Please note that if you do miss the group flight you will be responsible for getting yourself to Bella Coola. You should have no problem booking a return flight home on the final day, but again - give yourself a few hours buffer in case of delays.
2022 group flight times are as follows:
WEEK 1
July 13 arrival flight from Vancouver to Bella Coola
Departing 10:30am; arrival 11:45am

WEEK 2

July 31 departure flight from Bella Coola to Vancouver

US citizens will need a passport with at least 6 months of validity left; no visas are required. Participants from other countries should check with their consulate for entry requirements.
At the time of writing (April 2022), there are NO covid testing requirements for fully vaccinated travelers entering Canada. Unvaccinated travelers should NOT register for this trip at this time. Registered participants will be kept updated as things evolve, but you can get the latest information here.
Please note that travel insurance is strongly recommended. Although we hope you never need it, we've seen enough to know that it can be a lifesaver in the event of a medical emergency, flight delays that cause you to miss the start of the trip, lost baggage or cancellation on your part (break your leg two weeks before departure? Miss the flight to Bella Coola and have to book another on your own? Insurance could cover the entire cost of your trip, or that missed flight!).
